02 · The case for solar film
Your windows are the leak.
On a sunny afternoon, untreated glass lets most of the sun's energy straight into the room. Your air conditioning spends the day fighting it, and the rooms behind that glass are the hottest in the house.
The same sunlight carries UV that bleaches floors, furniture and art, and glare that makes screens hard to read. Solar film sends heat back out, blocks UV and softens glare, with no renovation and no new windows.

Ceramic films that target the sun's heat while keeping high visible light and a natural look. Ideal where you want comfort without darkening the room.
PureVue™ Ceramic
Sputtered ceramic film with low reflectance that keeps glass looking natural. Shades 35, 50, 60 and 70.
Neutral, dark & warm
Tinted solar film
Tinted films with glare control and daytime privacy, without a mirror look. Darker shades reject more heat and give stronger privacy.
Stainless Steel
A neutral grey tone that complements any colour scheme, with high heat rejection and lower reflectance. Shades 20, 35 and 50.
Quantum
A stylish dark aesthetic with low reflectivity that reduces heat gain, controls glare and adds privacy. Shades 10 and 20.
Solar Bronze
A warm copper finish that harmonises with brick, stone and earth-toned exteriors. Shades 20 and 35.

Maximum heat rejection & daytime privacy
Sputtered metal films reflect sunlight away for the strongest heat rejection and a private, mirrored look by day.

Armorcoat® Solar Safety combines solar control and daytime privacy with genuine impact resistance — one film that cuts heat, adds privacy and holds the glass together. Our silver and Stainless Steel 8 mil tints come from this family.
Armorcoat® Solar Safety
High-tensile polyester layers with aggressive adhesives. Finishes: Silver, Stainless Steel and TrueVue, in 4 and 8 mil.
Anchored as standard
Like all of our security film, Solar Safety installations are anchored to the frame with DOWSIL™ 995 structural silicone.

Solar film, answered.
Will solar film make my rooms dark?
It depends on the film. Near-clear films keep most of the daylight; tinted and reflective films reduce more. We show samples against your own glass so you can choose the balance.
Is it safe for my double-pane windows?
In most cases, yes. Some glass types and shaded units need assessment for thermal stress before film is applied. We check every window and recommend a film that's safe for your glazing.
Can people see in at night?
Reflective films give daytime privacy. At night, with the lights on inside, the effect reverses. Low-reflective tints and frosted films can help, and we'll advise on the right choice for each window.
What's the difference between solar and security film?
Solar film targets heat, UV and glare. Security film is thicker and holds glass together. Our 8 mil silver and Stainless Steel films combine both in a single product.
How long does installation take?
Most residences are completed in a day or two. We provide an aftercare guide covering curing time and cleaning.
What about warranties?
SolarGard products carry manufacturer warranties. Coverage varies by product and application, and we'll detail exactly what applies to you in your written quote.
