Film is only as strong as its anchor.
Security film holds broken glass together. Anchoring is what holds the whole pane in its frame. Many installers apply the film and stop there, and that's where the protection ends. We bond every edge to the frame with DOWSIL™ 995 structural silicone.

01 · The difference
Film alone, or film that's anchored.
Both panes carry the same film. Only one has it bonded to the frame.
Unanchored
The film's edge is free. Under a hard impact the pane can fold out of its frame as a single sheet, and the opening is there for the taking.
Anchored with structural silicone
The film is bonded edge-to-frame with a bead of DOWSIL™ 995 structural silicone, so the pane stays retained even after the glass cracks.
Holds the pane, not just the shards
Film keeps broken glass together. Anchoring ties that glass to the frame, which is what turns a delay into real resistance.
Professional-grade silicone
Every edge is wet-glazed with DOWSIL™ 995, applied carefully and left to cure properly.
Assessed on every frame
Frames and glazing differ. We check yours and recommend the right film thickness — 8 mil or 14 mil — and anchoring.

Apply the film
The film is applied edge to edge, free of bubbles, gaps and debris.
Bond to the frame
A continuous bead of DOWSIL™ 995 bonds the film's edge to the frame.
Cure & inspect
The silicone is left to cure properly, then every edge is inspected before we finish.

DOWSIL™ 995 comes in white, black and gray, so we can match or blend the anchoring with your frames as cleanly as possible.

04 · Before you hire anyone
Five questions to ask any installer.
Security film is only as good as its installation. These questions will tell you quickly how it will be done.
- How is the film anchored to the frame?Ask for the method and the product. "It's just applied to the glass" is not anchoring.
- Which sealant do you use?Anchoring calls for structural silicone such as DOWSIL™ 995, not a general-purpose caulk.
- Is the bond continuous around the whole pane?Gaps leave the pane free to pop out at the weak point.
- Can it be colour matched to my frames?Ours comes in white, black and gray.
- Is anchoring included in the quote, in writing?Make sure it's a line in the proposal, not an optional extra.

Does every window need to be anchored?
We anchor every security film installation. We assess each frame and glazing on site and recommend the right approach for your glass.
Will the silicone be visible?
It's a neat bead at the edge of the pane. We choose white, black or gray to match or blend with your frames as cleanly as possible.
Does anchoring work with tinted security film?
Yes. Our 8 mil silver and Stainless Steel films are anchored in the same way as our clear 8 mil and 14 mil films.
Is anchoring covered by the quote?
Yes. Anchoring is specified in your written proposal for each installation.
